The building of the Thessaloniki branch of the Imperial Ottoman Bank, which had opened in 1864, was completely destroyed by an attack from a Bulgarian revolutionary committee on April 29, 1903 at 20.00. The new building was built in 1904 by the Italian architect Vitaliano Poselli, the principal builder in the city at the time. The new building became the symbol of the innovative role of the merchant class, with its metal frame and eclectic ornamentation on its façades. The bank maintained its business in this building until 1938. From 1951 to 1978, the building housed IKA, the Greek Social Insurance Company. It was damaged by an earthquake in 1978 and later restored. Today it is the premises of the Conservatoire of Thessaloniki. SALT Research Ottoman Bank Archives 1864’te açılan Osmanlı Bankası Selanik Şubesi binası, 29 Nisan 1903 günü saat 20.00’de Bulgar komitacıların saldırısına uğradı. Ön cephesi hariç tamamen yıkılan bina, dönemin önemli mimarlarından Vitaliano Poselli (1838-1918) tarafından yeniden yapılarak 20 Haziran 1904 tarihinde hizmete girdi. Metal iskeleti ve eklektik üslup çeşitlemeleriyle süslü cephesiyle şehrin ticaret erbabının yenilikçiliğinin bir sembolü oldu. 1938’e kadar Osmanlı Bankası’nın kullanımında olan bina, 1951’den 1978’deki depreme kadar Yunan Sosyal Sigorta Kuruluşu (İKA) tarafından kullanıldı. Depremde zarar gördüğü için restore edildi. Günümüzde Selanik Konservatuarı olarak hizmet vermektedir.
