| Keywords: Green Man Little Bytham (close-up).jpg This is a scan from a 35mm transparency which I took in the mid 1970s at Little Bytham Lincolnshire England It shows a mediaeval stone carving of a Green Man outside St Medard's church Lichen and moss have grown on the face making him literally green especially in wet weather The carving was discovered when restoration work was done to the church it had been reused turned face inwards in a wall Stylistically it is very similar to one still in position in the porch at nearby Greatford church This scan is in the Public Domain however I retain ownership and copyright of the original transparency and any higher-resolution scans derived from it If this image is used outside Wikipedia a photographer's credit Simon Garbutt would be much appreciated SiGarb 17 36 11 December 2005 UTC 2005-12-11 own assumed SiGarb DEFAULTSORT Little Bytham Gothic capitals in England Green Man in England Medieval sculptures St Medard and St Gildard Little Bytham Sculptures in Lincolnshire | ||||
