Dence Jr., 32 for committing various sex acts with a 5 year old child, photographing these acts and uploading them to the internet for dissemination. The investigation was initiated after a tip was received through the Internet Crimes Against Children Tip line. Subsequently a search warrant was executed on his home. Dence was taken into custody without incident. Based on the results of the initial investigation, Dence was charged with the following: Criminal Sex Act in the 1st degree – (class B felony) Use of a child in a sexual performance – (class C felony) Promoting a sexual performance by a child – (class D felony) Possession of a sexual performance by a child – (class E felony) Endangering the welfare of a child – (class A misdemeanor) There are 54 registered sex offenders in Amsterdam, NY not including the Greater Amsterdam New York Area. Amsterdam, NY has a ratio of 29.21 offenders per 10,000 residents. This is higher than the national average of 14.07 offenders per 10,000 residents.
