The GOES-R Workshop provided a unique opportunity to bring together broadcast meteorologists from around the nation to engage with professionals from NOAA and NASA on the launch of this revolutionary satellite. On November 17, workshop participants were given a tour of the the Vehicle Assembly Building, or VAB, at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.The building was designed to assemble large space vehicles, such as the massive Saturn V and the Space Shuttle. GOES-R is scheduled to launch aboard an Atlas V rocket on November 19 from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
