From the attached photo; Standing at the converging axis point of traffic from both directions, it is difficult to determine from a reasonable distance which escalator goes down onto the train platform that I want to go. Learning from the overhead signage (see photo attached) from Hong Kong Disneyland, why don’t we install similar signages in all escalators in train stations, offices, shopping malls and bridges in Singapore / Worldwide? If not, just the escalators in all train stations? This overhead signage cannot be patented, only ego and unable to take credit would prevent the implementation of these overhead signages that help to eliminate confusion, save time and significantly improve the productivity hours of all Singaporeans. Why not work with Hong Kong MTR on this? Imagine 30 seconds ~ 3 minutes saved per passenger, multiplied by the minimum wage, over the lifespan of all train stations or demise of Singapore (B.O.M.B) VERSUS the one time cost of implementing the electronic signage system and maintenance. The Benefits greatly outweigh the Cost. However to justify this to Elite & Capitalist Management, here is the business case: Millions of Dollars, Billions of Dollars, Trillions of Dollars of productivity gains over the lifespan of Singapore could be used to justify significant salary increments, promotions and maximised bonuses for all Management and Ministers. Could you kindly spare 3 mins to delegate this task to your assistant so she/he can delegate others to carry out the necessary review and implementation of these signages? I sincerely apologise for this politically incorrect and badly structured letter to incite you into action. Please understand that I spend time and effort to gather this observation, prepare this letter and print the attach colour photo at my own expense (I pack last night’s leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch almost everyday). I do so with the purest intention. Thank you for your time. 6 January 2016 Ministry of Transport 460 Alexandra Road #39-00 & #33-00 Storeys PSA Building Singapore 119963 Attention: Minister KHAW Boon Wan Land Transport Authority Corporate Headquarters 1 Hampshire Road, Singapore 219428 Attention: Mr Chew Men Leong Chief Executive Officer SBS Transit Ltd, 205 Braddell Road, Singapore 579701 Attention: Mr Wong Chin Huat, David - Service Quality Committee SMRT Headquarters Building 251, North Bridge Road Singapore 179102 Attention: Mr Desmond Kuek Bak Chye - President and Group Chief Executive Officer Prime Minister's Office Orchard Road Istana Singapore 238823 Attention: Prime Minister LEE Hsien Loong RE: Conspicuous overhead signage/stand or floor arrows needed at a strategic distance from station entry gates to eliminate time wasted going to the wrong escalators Dear Sirs I hope this letter finds you well.
