After folks at the National Wildlife Federation referred to this as the "Billy Idol Bee", our scientist-in-charge decided to declare this species' common name to be "Billy Idol Melecta." He did note, however, that all the bees in the genus Melecta are nest parasites...sorry Billy. Who says science isn't fun?!
