On this basis, the sitter has been identified as Anne (c. 1590-1644), daughter of Sir James Harington of Exton, Rutland, who married secondly, as his second wife, Sir John Molyneux, Bt, of Teversal, Notts. (d. 1618). Her widow's weeds suggest that the portrait may date from shortly after 1618.
